SBS / Stereo Content

Play Side-by-Side 3D Content on a Glasses-Free Display

Check whether your SBS, stereo video, or left and right view content can be reviewed on a 3DV glasses-free 3D display.

Start with the stereo format, player, resolution, and target display.

SBS left and right content

Prepared stereo content is one of the clearest starting points for 3DV.

Stereo playback path review

Player behavior matters as much as the file format.

Display-ready format check

Resolution, aspect ratio, and mapping details affect the final experience.

Check the path first

Ready to test

  • Full SBS stereo video
  • Half SBS stereo video
  • Prepared dual-view media
  • Player that can preserve stereo layout

Confirm first

  • Over-under format
  • Aspect ratio and resolution
  • Playback software
  • Whether the media is actually stereo
  • Mapping to the target 3DV model

Not a direct fit

  • Ordinary 2D video
  • Flat screen recording
  • AI-upconverted video without stereo validation
  • Random 3D-looking animation with no left and right views

Format fit

SBS Content Is a Strong Starting Point

  • 01 SBS stereo video is closer to display-ready 3D than ordinary 2D video.
  • 02 The remaining question is the playback and mapping path.
  • 03 We need to know the format, resolution, aspect ratio, player, and whether the content is full SBS, half SBS, or over-under.
  • 04 Ordinary 2D video does not automatically become stereoscopic.

Workflow boundary

What 3DV checks before you choose a model

  • 01 3DV is the glasses-free 3D display layer. Some content paths may need a compatible player, viewer, or prepared stereo output.
  • 02 If your stereo media is not ready for direct display, we can help check the format, resolution, player, and playback path.

Common questions

Resolve the practical questions first.

The right display depends on both the physical setup and the content workflow.

Is SBS content already display-ready 3D?

It is a strong starting point, but the player, resolution, aspect ratio, and mapping to the target display still need to be checked.

Do full SBS and half SBS behave the same way?

No. Their frame dimensions and aspect-ratio handling differ, so the exact format and player settings matter.

Can ordinary 2D video be shown as glasses-free 3D?

Ordinary 2D video does not automatically contain separate left and right views and should not be treated as validated stereo content.

What should I send for a quick check?

Send the SBS type, resolution, aspect ratio, player name, and ideally a sample frame or short clip.
